‘Ava DuVernay To Direct Kirby Series ‘The New Gods’ For DC/Warner Bros

11096.jpgIs DC finally getting it? Is there hope for the post-Snyder universe? With DCs Mister Miracle series doing so well, it’s good their taking the queue to revisit the master who actually made them. EMBRACE THE SPANDEX (and amazing helmets).

‘Ava DuVernay is closing a deal with Warner Bros and DC to direct a big-budget screen adaptation of The New Gods, the creation of revered comic book impresario Jack Kirby. A screenwriter is yet to be announced. New Gods character, Big Barda is a favorite of DuVernay.

There is no connection to the other DC world for the film right now by Warner Bros, where studio boss Toby Emmerich and his newly installed DC production president Walter Hamada are moving forward with a new approach to filmmakers on their DC-based fare.

DuVernay is repped by CAA, Nina Shaw, and Gordon Bobb.’
