Phoenix: The Life of Norman Bethune by Roderick & Sharon Stewart’ Biopic in the Works

11457728.jpgMore and more studios are on the lookout for projects that will translate to the western and Asian film audience. And it seems these companies a found a potential one – Canada’s Rare Earth Media and China’s Ray Production, as an adaptation of “Phoenix: The Life of Norman Bethune,” by Roderick and Sharon Stewart.

The story of a doctor who served in the Communist Army during the 2nd Sino-Japanese War and brought medicine to rural China. A physician, medical innovator, and noted Communist, Bethune was eulogized by Chinese leader Mao Zedong.

The project will be introduced at Hong Kong’s FilMart this week. No director has been set.
