Sarah J Maas’s ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ rights go to Constantin Film

51otUIKBq0L._SX324_BO1,204,203,200_.jpgSarah J. Maas’s bestselling YA fantasy novel A Court of Thorns and Roses has been picked up by German producer Constantin Film.

The company, whose English-language credits include Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments, is working with Piers Tempest and Jo Bamford’s Tempo Entertainment on the project, which will be written by  British writer Rachel Hirons (Kiss Me First).

The Beauty and the Beast type fantasy drama tells the story of Feyre, who finds herself entwined with faeries after unknowingly killing one. When the 19-year-old huntress kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin, one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world. Feyre must find a way to stop it or doom Tamlin and his world forever.

The book is represented by Tamar Rydzinski at the Laura Dail Literary Agency, with the film rights represented by Jon Cassir at CAA. Producer Peter Nadermann brought the project to Constantin Film and will exec produce alongside Martin Moszkowicz with Resident Evil’s Robert Kulzer producing with Tempest and Bamford.’
